Lets Help the Victims of Typhoon Sendong

In light of the declaration of State of National Calamity, we once again calls onto its members to aid the victims of Tropical Storm Sendong in southern part of the Philippines.

In the latest report from NDRRMC, a total of 388,415 families or 63,079 individuals have been affected by the said cyclone. Of the total affected population, at least 42,733 individuals or 9,743 families are inside 62 evacuation centers. As reported by DSWD, most of the evacuees are in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City.

The death toll also rose from about 700 to at least 957. Most of the deaths recorded are from Region X, specifically in the provinces of Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Oriental.

Three of the hardest-hit areas are Dumaguete City, Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. Currently, two CDNR teams are deployed assessing the situations in the cities of Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, and Dumaguete. (Please see the attached situation report for further information).

AmCham Foundation is currently mobilizing cash and in-kind donations. Needed for in-kind donations are items for waste management, water, sanitation and hygiene kits, ready-to-eat food packs, clothing, kitchen utensils, tents/temporary shelter, blankets, mats, and mosquito nets.
