Mobile Clinic & Balik Eskwela Program

 

“Mobile Clinic &
Balik – Eskwela Program” 

        Last June 14, 2008, the American Chamber Foundation Philippines, Incorporated (ACFPI) in partnership with Planned Parenthood Federation America International (PPFA-International) launched it first Mobile Clinic in Canonigo Covered Court in Paco, Manila.  With the help of Barangay 678 and Celedonio Salvador Elementary School the event was successfully fulfilled. 

        Headed by Dra. Elsie Lynn Locson (ACFPI Doctor) together with the Volunteer Caregivers from Manila Philippines Skills Institutes (MPSI), the medical check-up of sixty-one (61) clients including parents and children was accomplished.  Free medicines and some school supply were also provided for the clients of the medical consultation.

        Participated by thirty-one (31) mother from the community of Paco, the Information Education and Communication (IEC) session was also successfully carry out.  The IEC session was spearheaded by Ms. Aprilyn Obanel (RH Coordinator) with her skilled Peer Educators.  They provided useful knowledge about Family Planning and Reproductive Health information.  Giving out also of IEC materials and Family Planning commodities like condoms and pills were also offered to the participants.

        Organized by Ms. Maria Delia Fe Hilario (Program Manager), the Balik-Eskwela Program was done in the afternoon.  This was a yearly activity that aims to provide educational support to AmCham Scholars.  Assisted by the Social Workers, they generously give school supplies such as bag, notebooks, pens and other educational materials to twenty-two (22) AmCham Scholars. 
           
        The Mobile Clinic & Balik-Eskwela Program seems to be a successful alternative of action in providing services and reaching out people in near communities that may have lack in awareness and understanding of their personal welfare.
